27 Girl Power Songs that will Make you Feel Good

Every woman (anyone who identifies as a woman) needs a few girl power songs in her life. Sometimes you want to listen to something that doesn’t involve guns, broken hearts or objectification of women. You might just want to get your sass on. And everyone needs a break from Ed Sheeran sometimes.

These days I’m very aware that kids can be influenced by literally everything. What they see on TV, your behaviour, and even the songs they listen to. Ragamuffin copies so much of my behaviour and the words I say, it’s a little bit scary. So often I feel like I’m looking into a mirror that reflects my worst qualities sometimes. That’s one of the reasons I wanted to put a playlist of more girl positive songs.

What Makes a Great Girl Power Song?

As you’ll see from my list, girl power songs can be quite different. You have some songs that just want to stick two fingers up to the patriarchy and then those that want every girl to know their special. Some are about picking yourself up after being hurt and those that encourage girls to stick together. Whether you need a pick-me up or a boogie round the living room – I’ve got you covered.
